For the first time, Girl Scout cookies will be available to purchase over the Internet.
Most people are familiar with Girl Scouts (in the United States—”Girl Guides” in Canada) selling cookies in person.
But now in the US, they’re available online through a “Digital Cookie” website.
A media release from the Girl Scouts says that selling cookies helps teach girls about “goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.” Now that they are also available online, girls can also learn about “online marketing, app usage and ecommerce.”
Cookies will still be sold in person by Girl Scouts. But members of the Girl Scouts will also be able to send an email to customers to invite them to visit their personalized cookie website where people can order cookies and have them delivered.
The Girl Scouts offer a dozen mouth-watering flavours including Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Sandwich and Shortbreads.
The Girl Guides in Canada aren’t selling their cookies online yet, but they can be followed on Twitter @girlguidecookie. In Canada, the delicious treats are still just $5 a box.
