Robert Mugabe has been the president of Zimbabwe since 1987.
Anyone younger than 37 years old in the African country has never had another leader.
Now, many people in Zimbabwe, as well as the military, want him to step down–to leave the job so they can choose a new president.
There have been demonstrations in the country, as tens of thousands gathered in Zimbabwe’s cities to make it clear that they wanted Mugabe to leave his job. The military placed Mugabe under house arrest.
However, he may try to hold onto power.

Rescue Drill Turned Real In Canada’s North
Four hundred members of the Canadian military were in Nunavut recently for a search-and-rescue exercise called “Operation Nanook.”
That’s when troops practice rescuing pretend air-crash victims just in case it ever happens.
The soldiers were to perform the exercise for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
However, the mock exercise was cancelled when there was a real plane crash nearby. The team raced out to help the victims.
The soldiers knew it was real when someone said, “NODUF,” which is slang for “this is not a drill.”
Canada’s Troops Coming Home From Afghanistan
Since 2005, Canadian troops have been fighting in Afghanistan against terrorists.
Now, Canadian soldiers are ending their mission in Afghanistan.
Troops will start coming home in July, with some staying on for another three years or so—not to fight, but to train the army and police in Afghanistan so they can take care of their own people.
Canadian soldiers were first sent to Afghanistan in 2001. Their duties were not to fight.
They were to make sure Canada would be safe from terrorists, to show Canadian leadership around the world, and to help Afghanistan rebuild.
