Non-Venomous Python Found In Winnipeg Dumpster https://teachingkidsnews.com/2013/05/08/1-non-poisonous-python-found-in-winnipeg-dumpsters/ Thu, 09 May 2013 01:00:21 +0000 https://teachingkidsnews.com/?p=10346 A Winnipeg resident was surprised on Tuesday to discover a five-foot Ball python in a dumpster behind an apartment building.

The snake is not poisonous.

The resident called police; one of the officers used a small recycling box to corral and hold the snake.

The police then called the city’s animal services department.

They came right away and rescued the animal.

Ball pythons are a bit smaller than most pythons. Ball pythons are about one metre long.

Police said that finding a snake in this way is extremely rare—it almost never happens.

The person who discovered the snake had been putting out their garbage and heard a noise; they saw a snake moving around.

The snake will be held until a good home can be found for it.

Dream Weekend For Canadian Football Fans https://teachingkidsnews.com/2011/11/27/a-dream-weekend-for-canadian-football-fans/ Mon, 28 Nov 2011 03:35:12 +0000 https://teachingkidsnews.com/?p=4353 Last weekend, Canadian football fans had a lot to be happy about.

First, they were treated to one of the best Vanier Cups of all time.

Then, the Canadian Football League’s (CFL's) biggest prize, The Grey Cup, was also awarded.

On Friday, two very different teams competed for the Vanier Cup, the trophy for Canadian Inter-university Sport (CIS) football.

Laval, the defending champions, boasted an incredible defense which allowed opponents a measly 12 points a game throughout the 2011 season.

McMaster, which hadn’t appeared in the CIS final in 41 years, possessed a strong offense featuring one of the league’s top quarterbacks, Kyle Quinlan.
