Million-Dollar Banksy Painting Shreds Itself

Banksy has done it again.

Banksy is a world-famous artist, but no one knows exactly who Banksy is--or even if Banksy is male or female.

That's because Banksy is a "street artist." Most of the art Banksy creates is painted on the sides of buildings, public walls and other places that are out in the open. And the art is created without anyone seeing them being created. So Banksy has remained anonymous (meaning that no one knows who it is).

Banksy's art is "political." That means it's not just interesting to look at, but it makes a point about something.

One of Banksy's most famous paintings is called Girl with Balloon. It was painted in 2002 on a wall in the UK.

Recently, a framed copy of Girl with Balloon was auctioned off (sold) for nearly two million dollars.

US Women’s Open Memorable For Two Very Different Reasons

Twenty-year-old Naomi Osaka won the US Open tennis tournament (Women's Singles) on Saturday.
Osaka, who is Japanese-American, is the first Japanese person to win a major tennis tournament.
However, her win isn't the only thing that made the tournament memorable. Something happened to her opponent, 36-year-old tennis star Serena Williams.
She was accused of being "coached," which is not allowed during a match. Williams's coach, who was sitting in the crowd, had made a motion with his hands to tell Williams how to hit a shot. However, Williams said she was not looking at the coach at the time and so did not cheat.

Harry, Meghan Get Married

No longer is she simply Meghan Markle, an actress and activist. Now, she will be known as the Duchess of Sussex.
Last Saturday, Markle married a prince--Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, grandson of Queen Elizabeth and brother of Prince William.
In front of a crowd of about 600 people in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle--and tens of thousands more who stood outside in the streets of London and millions around the world who watched on TV--England's Prince Harry married US-born Meghan Markle.

Britain's Prince Harry is going to tie the knot.
He recently proposed to American actress Meghan Markle, and she said "yes."
They announced their engagement on Nov. 27, appearing together before the media.
Harry, 33, is Queen Elizabeth's grandson and he's fifth in line to the throne. His mother is the late Princess Diana and his father is Prince Charles.

Blue Jays Pitcher Back On The Mound

Roberto Osuna is a professional pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. But on Friday, June 23, when the Jays needed a pitcher to come in and help them win the game, Osuna didn't pitch.
Osuna was the logical choice to come into the game; he is known as a closer, someone who comes in to pitch near the end of the game, to save it. The 22-year-old has saved games before--in fact, 18 of them this year.

Malala Yousafzai Becomes Honourary Canadian

Malala Yousafzai has a message for Canadian kids: Don't wait, to make a difference. Just because you're young doesn't mean you can't be a leader.
Yousafzai is an activist for children's rights, and particularly the right for girls to get an education.
In this case, "activist" means that she tries to get that message out, no matter how difficult that may be for her.

He hasn't even officially taken the job yet, but already Trump has been involved in a series of bizarre incidents unlike any other president. Trump will be "inaugurated" (officially given the job) on January 20. Normally, a presidential inauguration is a big celebration with lots of celebrities and high-profile musical acts performing. For instance, when US President Barack Obama was inaugurated in 2009, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder were among the performers.
