There are exciting things happening in baseball, hockey, basketball, golf and soccer.
Major League Baseball (MLB) is just getting underway.
Every team is hoping to make it to the World Series in October. But that’s about 150 games away. The Blue Jays have a real shot at it this year, and that has some of the American teams nervous.
Will a Canadian team win against the Americans in “their” sport? It’s happened before—in 1992 and 1993 when the Jays won the World Series. You never know!
The National Hockey League (NHL) is in round one of the playoffs. Sixteen teams are battling it out for the Stanley Cup, hockey’s ultimate prize.
The most anticipated match-up in round one is Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin of the Penguins versus the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers know how to get under the skin of the Penguins. Who will win that battle?
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is winding down. A strike by the players shortened its season this year. The Miami Heat were the “celebrity” team this year, with their three stars: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Will they be able to bring home a championship this year?
With The Masters golf tournament having recently ended
(Bubba Watson won), I’m wondering if Tiger Woods will win another event this year—maybe even a major tournament.
Then there’s soccer. Arguably two of the best players to ever play the game, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, are in the midst of an amazing scoring race. They play in the Spanish Soccer League, also known as La Liga. After 31 games Messi has 39 goals while Ronaldo has 4o goals after playing in 32 games.
The sports world is heating up—and this is just a taste of what to expect.
